Sheldon grew up in Iowa, and after graduating from high school, he went to Moody Bible Institute in Chicago (Bachelor’s degree in International Missions). He was introduced to Village Missions during his first missions conference at Moody Bible Institute (former DR-John James). He later met and married his wife, Tara (Hernandez) Blattner, and they have 3 daughters.
After earning his MBA at Ashford University, and then spending 8 years serving at a Village Missions church in Ohio, God repeatedly laid a desire and passion on his heart to be involved in serving and aligning with VM core values and missions — reaching out to rural communities where the Gospel, and God’s Word, are not being shared, preached and taught.
Sheldon works in senior management at Express Scripts (Medicare Prescription Drugs), and enjoys serving and bringing some of God’s gifting in his life to the VM board, which will then hopefully have a “trickle down effect” to our champion missionaries in the various North American fields — He has a specific interest (and background) in helping with marketing/fundraising, and then assisting with the prescription drug coverage (benefits) for VM staff and missionaries.
