Lincoln Center is located within the town limits of Lincoln, a town of about 5,000 in North Central Maine. Lincoln itself is 75 square miles in area, including 7 square miles of 13 lakes. The area also offers forested land, fishing, hunting, and ATV/snowmobile trails. The area was booming when the paper mill was up and running, but the mill has completely shut down and is being dismantled. This has left many jobless and lots of houses and land for sale, as folks look elsewhere for new jobs. The many small businesses in town allow many conveniences without having to travel to Bangor, 40 miles south. The largest employers are the local hospital and Wal-Mart.
Lincoln Center Baptist Church was established in 1844, but we are the only Village Missionaries to serve there and have been doing so since 2013. Even though there are many other churches in town, of different denominations, we are one of only a few churches that present a Gospel message. Our congregation is small in number, but large on faith and a desire to present the Good News to others in the community. The church serves a monthly free dinner to the community, and averages over 200 meals served at each one. We have been a part of the CDI program for the past couple of years and currently average 14.
