One Sunday this past month a young man whose parents attend here showed up quite unexpectedly. He walked into the service just before the message started. I could see that he was very agitated about something. Later he told me that when he woke up that morning (he lives in a town about 40 miles away), he felt the most powerful urge to get up, get dressed, and drive up to the church where his parents lived. It turned out that this was the day of this man’s salvation. He literally sat on the edge of his seat throughout the sermon. He later told me that when I shared the gospel toward the end of the sermon, he was convinced that the Lord was speaking directly to him, and he wondered at the time how I could know what was going on in his life. I didn’t know. I hardly knew the man. But clearly the Holy Spirit was working in this man’s heart, drawing him irresistibly to the Savior. Following the service he approached me with a big smile and gave me a hug and thanked me. Since that morning he has been here each Sunday and each Tuesday night for the Men’s Bible Study. The reason I know the details about this man’s conversion is that I asked him to tell the fellows on that first Tuesday night why he was there. His ringing testimony of coming to faith in Jesus Christ touched all of our hearts. Praise God for the gift of life through faith in Jesus Christ.
