October 16:. Ken & Kris Ainsworth, Coram, MT
Nestled in the Northern Rockies just 8 miles from the west entrance to Glacier National Park lies the tiny community of Coram, MT. We are certainly praising God that He saw fit to send us here! Coram used to be a water stop for the Great Northern Railroad back in the days of steam. Today, it’s primarily a way-stop for folks traveling to & from the park. Since the timber industry continues to be depressed and the local aluminum mill closed in 2009, tourism is the primary employer; many of those jobs are seasonal. Unemployment is high, and many of our younger folks have been forced to move to find jobs. Despite difficult economic times, we are blessed with a congregation who loves the Lord and has a strong desire to reach our community. Our church supports a number of outreach efforts, including our Fourth Friday Coffeehouse open mic events, a community picnic, holiday food basket distribution (with the local food bank) and in cooperation with two other Canyon churches, a new youth ministry hosted at the recently closed elementary school. Please pray for the “Beyond Borders for Christ” youth ministry, that God would use it to reach both children and parents. Please pray for wisdom in our efforts to reach the younger families in our community. Please pray that we would grow closer to Christ and faithfully fulfill His calling.
