June 10: Terry & Jane Baskin, Grindrod, BC
Grindrod is a fairly quiet, little dairy farming and retirement community at the northern tip of the Okanogan Valley. There are many lives here, which are broken and empty as they are “lived out” in spiritual darkness. The village itself is composed of an elementary school, a feed mill, post office, saddle shop, corner store, a bar, our church and a couple hundred residents. With the surrounding community our population is about 1,300 people. Our church building dates back to 1918. Through a (debt-free) expansion project in the last year, we now can comfortably seat about 100 people and have a bit more room for Sunday school kids. A great group of people make up our congregation. Our regular activities include a couple of weekly Bible Study groups, a youth group, men’s breakfasts, prayer meeting, and some outreach to a local seniors’ home. One recent highlight is a growing involvement by our congregation in prayer and fasting for the needs of our church and community. Please pray with us that the Lord would enable us to reach out and minister to more of the younger families in this valley. We also ask you to pray for wisdom as we seek to rewrite our church constitution to better reflect who we are, and what the Lord wants us to be as we move ahead in serving our Wonderful Lord. Jane and I would appreciate prayer for us, that the Lord would continue to equip us to be godly parents to our six children and effective and joyful servants for His glory in this needy community.
