My wife has been active in the “40 Days for Life” Prayer Campaign.” It kicks off every year with a rally of all the churches, praying down in front of the local Planned Parenthood. After that, people from the local churches sign up, an hour at a time, committing to take an hour slot to stand and pray in front of the allotted plot in front of Planned Parenthood. My wife prays every single Friday at 7:00 A.M., and there are other times she goes down to pray, and times when she drives someone down to pray.
She had challenged folks in our church to take an hour so that we could fill up one whole day, to which it was well received. We even have had an older couple who goes down there weekly to pray as a result. This is not a protest, but rather just a time of praying that abortion would end and that there would be healing for these women who find themselves in crisis pregnancies – some who are considering aborting their child, and some who will forever feel the weight of their poor decision.
Nationally there has been over thirty Planned Parenthood workers walk out and quit, just during this year’s forty day campaign. It is amazing that, in a society where we are losing every social battle, that the one thing the church gets behind to pray against seems to be the one area that the battle is being won or at very best stifled.
