David & Ninette Cox, Oriskany, VA

Oriskany is located in SW Virginia at the base of the Shenandoah Valley.  This is an old mining town whose mines closed almost a century ago. Where there used to be almost 2000 people with a railroad line, 3 churches, 5 stores and 3 gas stations, there is now one church and one post office. All the others closed, burned or were abandoned. We have farmers, some retired folks and others who drive south over the mountains to work in Roanoke or north to a paper mill in Covington. Oriskany is a small place where God is doing big things. In our 25 years here, we have been encouraged to see God change lives. David teaches the Bible in three public elementary schools and serves as chaplain and first responder for the fire and rescue squads. Pray that our interaction with those of our community will lead to their trust in the Lord. Pray we will be faithful in our many tasks. Pray that the young children David teaches in the schools will respond to the Lord in faith.
