Tanwax is a name associated with a lake a few miles from our location, a creek that flows close to us and a housing development just down the highway from us. Tanwax Country Chapel is in the Eatonville school district, mail region, etc., though it’s about 9 miles west of the town.
We are just a scenic spot on WA State Highway 7, which is a popular route to Mt. Rainier. Our area is rural, yet not that far from big cities. This area is forested, and the logging industry was big here in years gone by. The medical billing business in town and the school district are our major employers.
Most people are retired or commute to Seattle, Tacoma, or Olympia, between 35-75 minutes away. Our church had several young folks, but they grew up and moved on. We are reaching out to younger families, although it’s rather easy to find another large church within 15 miles with many programs that we don’t offer. We always need prayer for our big outreaches like VBS and summer camp. This past year we have started an archery ministry called CenterShot.
We’d like prayer that we can introduce many to Christ through this ministry, as well as through youth group, our small groups and regular services. Leadership development is an active target for us too.
