We had some good connections with both of the schools we serve in our community. Our public school, Walterville Elementary, sent us a wonderful “thank you” card for the work that we did during Project Hope weekend. We continue to help them throughout the school year. And Bridgeway, a school for autistic children that serves all school districts in Lane County, just purchased the former Camp Creek Elementary School building from the Springfield School District. We welcomed them into the community when they first moved here two years ago and now we celebrated with them as they purchased the property.
Just before the school year began, they were broken into and robbed of many computers and iPads, which are so necessary to the children they serve. The next day, the director of the school came to the church and told us of the break-in and asked us to please pray for them. We were so excited that they sought us out for prayer! A few of us also went up to the school and “prayer-walked” the grounds one evening. Bridgeway received donations and gifts that more than made up for the robbery. We truly believe this was an answer to our prayers!
