As You Pray This Week

Praying 5We’re about halfway through our Spring Candidate School.  By the time couples are invited to our school, they have already filled out a lengthy application, submitted several references, had a background check conducted, and been interviewed by a District Representative. At our school, we share our philosophy of ministry (Preach the Word and love the people) and several aspects of the way Village Missions approaches rural ministry.  Friday evening we will ask the candidates if their call to Village Missions, now that they know many of the details of our ministry, has been confirmed.  The candidate school staff will also make a decision regarding their suitability.  We care very deeply about the quality of people who serve as Village Missionaries!  Please pray for:

  1. Wisdom for the candidate school staff.
  2. Wisdom for the candidates as they discern God’s leading.
  3. The chapel service on Thursday night as the couples share their testimony and Brian shares a challenge.
  4. Safety in travel back home.

Before heading home from the Canadian Board meeting, Brian developed a tear in his retina. Saturday night he saw the eye doctor in Salem, OR. Brian had laser surgery Monday afternoon where they sealed the area around the tear in the retina. Other than redness and dilation, he is good to go and should be able to participate in candidate school. He has no restrictions. Thanks so much for praying!

Thank you for praying for Caleb Wechsler, our son.  He was forced to return home from China because of an injury to his foot in the motorcycle accident. The V.A. referred him to a local Orthopedic Center in Salem, OR, which is a praise.  Please pray for wisdom for the doctors and healing as they determine if he needs further treatment of his foot.

Thank you for praying for the Canadian Board meeting.  Please pray that God will continue to bless the Forward Again 2015 Initiative.  Our goal is to recruit 10 new missionaries by 2016 — many of the churches asking for help have waited many years.  We praise the Lord that already there seems to be much new interest in serving us.  We are also raising the base salary for Village Missionaries by $500 a month, starting this July.  We will only be able to do this with God’s provision.

Roy Adrian writes, “Thank you all for praying for my mother. She came through her surgery well and is recovering at home. Please pray for the Contenders students as they near the end of their Bibliology course and tackle the huge amounts of homework that must be completed. Praise God for the depth of discussions that takes place as men and women dig into the Word of God.”
